Up for Auction is a super clean Fox Body 1985 Mustang GT Convertible in Wimbledon White with Gray interior.
I am the 2nd owner and bought the car in 2014 for my collection. It has not been my daily driver so the mileage has been kept low. The original owner purchased this car new in November of 1984 for his wife. It has never seen snow and has always been garaged. There is no rust or body damage of any kind. The Original Owner told me the paint is 95% original, but I have yet to figure out where the touchup was made. It has never been smoked in, nor have pets been transported in it.
The Original Owner had a 347 stroker built from the original engine. The compression is 9.5:1, allowing the use of regular unleaded fuel. He claims he had it dynoed putting out 350HP to the rear wheels. I do not have the dyno sheet, but my butt dyno agrees. Also added was a Ford Racing aluminum radiator since the Original Owner was in AZ.
As you can tell by the pictures the engine compartment looks stock. This was done intentionally. 1985 was the last year Ford used the carburator, and was the first year of the roller cam motor. So it's the only year you get both from the factory. It currently has a Holley 700 cfm double-pumper on an aluminum manifold. The exhaust was modified to a true dual system from the stock 2-1-2 exhaust. Please see the video link for how it sounds.

The car was lowered with Ford Racing springs along with KYB shocks to improve handling. I also added full-length sub-frame connectors and a k-member brace, both from Maximum Motorsports. These chassis stiffening modifications are needed in a convertible due to the abundant amount of flex found without a roof. The car really handles well with no cowl shake or twisting.A 4-lug to 5-lug conversion was done with upgraded brakes. New Ford Mustang 17" wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires round out the suspension package.
The T-5 transmission was completly rebuilt along with the addition of a Ford Racing upgrade kit and a Ford Racing aluminum drive-shaft.
The clutch was upgraded to a Ford Racing 11" to handle the increase of power. The shifter was replaced with a Hurst racing unit topped off with a white ball handle.
The Air Conditioning, power windows/locks, radio, etc. all work as expected. However, since I have owned the car, the cruise control has stopped working. I just haven't looked into it and assume it is likely a simple fix.
It has the original top and the original boot cover is still with the car, along with its storage bag. The original Marchal Fog Lights are there and still working too.
The car has just over 56K original miles on it. The OEM speedometer was swapped out with a Ford Racing unit that goes up to 140MPH. The Original Owner assured me that the mileage is correct and wear is on par.
Note: The car currently does not have catalytic converters or the EGR valve installed. It has current California registration, but will not pass the smog visual test. (Strange enough is that it passes the sniff test with flying colors. In fact, cleaner than it does with cats!) I will include all parts required to return the car back to CA smog legal status. (Original cast iron manifold, EGR valve and Hi-flow cats) If you are buying the car from out of state, you are all set!
